Georgian has scored top marks for graduate employment in the Ontario college system's most recent annual survey of students and employers.
The survey is conducted by independent researchers on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Georgian was above the college system average in all key measurements, including graduate employment rate, and employer, graduate and student satisfaction rates.
Results of the 2007/08 Key Performance Indicators (KPI) survey reveal that Georgian's graduate employment rate of 94 per cent tops the list among all Ontario colleges. This also represents the 10th consecutive year that the college has surpassed 90 per cent.
Georgian's exceptional results in graduate employment demonstrate the College's commitment to offering academic programs that are responsive to community, business and industry needs. Georgian's connection with industry through its business partnerships and advisory committees has paid huge dividends. Georgian is today the number one college in Canada for student work experience, including co-operative education, clinical placements, practica and internships.
Georgian also increased its previously strong results in the area of graduate satisfaction, with 85 per cent of those surveyed reporting they are satisfied or very satisfied with their experience at Georgian. Among employers surveyed, 94.4 per cent said they are satisfied to very satisfied with the calibre of Georgian graduates they have hired.
Georgian's priority for the future is to maintain these strong results while continuing to strengthen existing programs and to provide new and evolving programs that are at the forefront of employers' needs.
Robert Johns, a Georgian grad who is now Manager, Special Projects, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, describes the reasons he's satisfied like this: "Georgian College opened doors that I never knew existed, and planted the seed that has grown into an incredible career opportunity. Georgian faculty bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise paired with a passion and talent for teaching. Students bring the drive - they create the opportunity."
